FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
M.I.S. unveils it's new information file standard(MIS) for multimedia files
with 2 new products
Charlesbourg, Quebec, Canada -- September 14, 2005- McGrath
Info Solution (M.I.S.) announces a file standard(MIS) to make it easy for
consumers to have information about their multimedia files and for other types
of files/information.
With the growing interest of consumers to network their computers
and consumer
electronic devices, the time is right to have a standard file that will give
more information about video’s, picture’s, song’s …
The MIS specification supports more than 187 tags of which: notes, multiple chapters,
slideshows, subtexts, questions, website links, resume playback from a
video/audio file, tool tip for
pictures, software error, other languages... Therefore, we find more than
a title and a description. As the files of this specification can be
written with a basic text editor, the latter can be used on different
operating systems, current and next generation DVD's, games consoles and consumer
electronic devices.
The specification was created with upgradeability/portability in mind. Our intention is that it
will become the de facto metadata file for multimedia content.
M.I.S. is also launching "MIS Info Video" (available in English
and French), a
Window XP based application that will use the new file standard. The interface
can be used directly from a users couch (10-foot onscreen TV interface).
Henceforth, users will be able to
organize their home videos, recorded movies and TV shows.
A free application is also available. It's call "IMDB 2 MIS"
(available in English). It takes the free
files from the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.COM),
allowing the user to create
".MIS" files. By simply pointing to the users folders of recorded movies, the
application will search the generated database and build a ".MIS".
Imagine using this kind of information on
home videos, pictures …
Because McGrath Info Solution also recognizes the efforts of those who do not make money
with
their information's, software's, fan movies, M.I.S. decided that the specification
will be free to use under certain conditions. For example, a student could start using this
specification now or plan for it in the next class project or a "Fan Filmmakers"
can include a ".MIS" with credits, trivia, goofs... with the free movie file
or trailer.
Other products are planned by M.I.S. for future implementation but companies or individuals can start making their
own.
